Mungari Camp

Mungari is our original camp and is named after the stream that flows close to camp. It is ideally situated centrally in Coutada 11 which enables every corner of our 500 000-acre hunting block to be accessed easily. Built under the branches of huge Msasa trees, the birdlife and little red duiker have all kept Mungari as their home. Mungari has 10 East African styled tents each with bathroom en-suite with hot and cold running water. The camp has 24-hour electricity and is powered by solar with a backup generator. For easy logistics, Mungari is within walking distance of the helipad and runway.

Ngazi Camp

This historic camp was built by the Portuguese hunters in the 60’s. They have recently rebuilt and renovated it. Ngazi boasts 4 rooms all with bathroom en-suite with hot and cold running water. The camp has 24-hour electrical power from solar with a backup generator. Ngazi is well suited to smaller groups or families wanting the intimacy of their camp. Like Mungari, Ngazi is centrally placed to allow easy access to every corner of Coutada 11.

Zambezi Delta

Mozambique is situated in South East Africa. Coutada 11 is an Official safari concession, covering 2000 square kilometres of some of the most diverse habitat and animal species in Africa. This area is one of the few remaining in Africa where one can still do a Classical African Safari. Coutada 11 is part of the Marromeu Complex and borders the mighty Zambezi River to the north. Coutada 11 is situated in the central part of Coastal Mozambique. The spectrum of wildlife is quite remarkable, having 21 hunting species of game from the tiny Livingstone Suni to the Buffalo, including 4 of the Big 5.

Buffalo roam the open flood plains and swamps in herds of several hundred, a recent count in the Marromeu complex estimated the Buffalo herds to be around 20 000 strong. Sable are huge herds and are often found nearing 150 strong. Coutada 11 has 5 distinctive types of habitats, namely Miombo Woodland, sand forests, tropical savannah, swamps and floodplains which makes this area totally unique.

Our associate is the longest standing concessionaire in Mozambique and have had the lease on Coutada 11 since 1992 – over the years, sound Game Management practices and Antipoaching programs, have contributed to making this area one of the best free-roaming game lands in Africa today. Coutada 11 is virtually at carrying capacity for most species. Hunters fly into Beira International Airport, and a short charter flight finds you landing in one of the most pristine hunting concessions in Africa.

Buffalo

Our associate is Africa’s premier purveyor of Cape Buffalo. The Zambezi Delta holds one of the highest concentrations of Buffalo per square mile in Africa today. From hunting single Dagga boys to the bulls following the huge herds (often numbering well over a thousand), opportunities are there every day! Glassing over a huge herd 40 yards away in a grassy glade of the Delta, is a memory that will stay with you forever. We offer two specific types of buffalo hunts. The Delta has huge herds and plenty of opportunities, it is not unusual to hunt 3 or 4 herds in a single day. We use Hagglunds BV206 amphibious vehicles to access the swamps. These BVs allow us to recover the entire buffalo, an important factor of our conservation model is meat distribution to our local community.

The flocks of white cattle egrets give away the herds locations. Getting into shooting range involves keeping a good eye on the wind and often a little crawling, you will probably get your feet wet.

The savanna portion of Coutada 11 also has buffalo. These are hunted by picking up the tracks of single bulls or herds and tracking them down. Our associate has a full-time wildlife scientist on their team. They believe in using science in the management of their wildlife. One of his duties is aging every buffalo harvested. Taking into account that a Buffalo on average will breed at 4 ½ years and form a fully hard boss at the age of eight. In the 2019 season, they didn’t take a single buffalo younger than 8 years. The average was over 9 years and the oldest being 12.7 years old. Taking 75 Buffalo last year; is an achievement theirr team is extremely proud of.
